Sistan Needle Work

In the past sericulture had been common in some parts of Sistan and many pepole were merchant of silk textiles and women made cap, purpot broiders with silk threads.

We can find a relationship between women's skills in broidering , needle work on the textile and silk thread production. This relationship is so consistent  that silk production stoppage could not remove it.Qomak work which is the local name for sleave work called white work.

Sleave Work

Xumak or khumak work is the name that, while watching fine illuminating tender silk fibers in the warp and weef of fine Sistan textiles reminds us the endless capabilities of its people. In the past this work was used to ornament clothes,Qorans cover, collar, cap,Kerchief, purlpot.

But today  it Mostly is used to ornameent praying  cloth cover table linen and ,cushion

The reason why this sistan work is called'Qame douzi' is that in the past silk was used as raw (namele Qam) material  without being polished or being  batched,or in dyeing and white washing process being polished.

One of its feature is count-sewing that every stitch of the thread over the textile was performed by counting wrap and weef with a special or geomet-ric regulation.
